People v. Cazares and Moreno (Criminal) – Defendants Cazares and Moreno were accused by more than ten Bell Gardens police officers of assault and resisting arrest. Both Mr. Cazares and Mr. Moreno were beaten and shot by the police officers as a result of allegedly resisting arrest. Both clients were facing extensive prison sentences if convicted and were told by numerous attorneys that they could not win since it would be a case of the defendants' word against the police officers'. After a relentless defense, Mr. Manuelian exposed the police officers' discrepancies, inaccuracies, and falsehoods. After Mr. Manuelian's blistering attack against the police officers, the jury quickly came back with "Not Guilty" verdicts on all counts against both Mr. Cazarez and Mr. Moreno.

Bell Gardens Police Department (Civil) - After destroying the prosecution's case in criminal court, Mr. Manuelian went on the offensive and assisted both Mr. Cazares and Mr. Moreno in suing the Bell Gardens Police Department and the "so called" police officers in Federal District Court for Civil Rights Violations under United States Code 1983. Manuelian was able to assist in getting both their clients a verdict in their favor with a $4.5 million dollar judgment against the Bell Gardens Police. Manuelian's name was officially placed on the map and was now known as a champion for Civil Rights and was officially recognized as a "true-contender" in the criminal defense arena - all done by the tender age of 37. When I meet with a client, I let them know what is the realistic result they can expect in their case. If they don't like what they hear then I tell them that in order for me to achieve a successful result, I have to identify the problems in a case and need the client's to understand those problems in order to achieve a result which the client's can expect, understand and be happy with - those are the only client's I accept."
